- Rob van Vuuren is a South African actor best known for his role as Twakkie in the SABC2 comedy series The Most Amazing Show, from 2006-2007.
Rob was born in Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa and completed his high schooling at Maritzburg College in 1993. He studied Drama at Rhodes Univerity and completed his studies in 1997 graduating with an Honours Degree.
He has appeared in numerous stage productions and received various award nominations for his roles. Among these are a Fleur Du Cap nomination for Best Supporting Actor in Beauty Queen Of Leenan and a Vita nomination for Best Actor in Birdie.
He’s written, produced and starred in three one-man shows and two two-man shows. He also writes, produces and stars in the TV show The Most Amazing Show alongside his creative partner Louw Venter, who plays Corne in the show.
The first season of the show premiered on South African TV in 2006 after achieving a cult following as a touring theatre production and a second season premiered in January 2007.
Rob’s movie credits include Shark Attack 2 (2001), The Bone Snatcher (2003), Crazy Monkey Presents Straight Outta Benoni (2005), Bunny Chow (2006) and Footskating 101 (2007).
He has voiced the role of Frothy The Bear on the animated television series URBO: The Adventures of Pax Afrika, since 2007.
Rob has hosted the SABC2 action-comedy game show Crazy Games (known as Summer Games in its first season) since November 2006.
In 2008 – in a show by Brett Bailey and his company Thirld World Bunfight – Rob was given the unique honour to perform for Madiba and his guests at his 90th Birthday bash in his home town of Qunu.
Rob is the co-host (with Anele Mdoda) of the inaugural season of the SABC2 reality competition SA’s Got Talent, based on the British “Got Talent” format, which airs from October to November, 2009.
